Advanced Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgery

Back To All Procedures

At Endocare Joburg, we specialise in minimally invasive gynaecological procedures that can diagnose and treat a wide range of women’s health issues. Two of our most advanced techniques are laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.

What is Laparoscopic Surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery, often called “keyhole surgery,” is a modern surgical technique that allows our doctors to operate inside your abdomen without making large incisions. Here’s how it works:

  • Small cuts (usually 0.5-1 cm) are made in your abdomen
  • A tiny camera and special surgical tools are inserted through these small openings
  • Your doctor can see inside your body on a high-definition screen and perform the necessary procedure
  • The image is magnified 10 times beyond the capability of the naked eye

Benefits of Laparoscopic Surgery:

  • Smaller scars
  • Less pain after surgery
  • Faster recovery time
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Lower risk of infection

What is Hysteroscopic Surgery?

Hysteroscopic surgery is another minimally invasive technique that allows our doctors to look inside your uterus and perform procedures without any incisions. Here’s how it works:

  • A thin, lighted tube (hysteroscope) is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus
  • The hysteroscope has a camera that sends images to a screen
  • Small surgical instruments can be passed through the hysteroscope to perform procedures

Benefits of Hysteroscopic Surgery:

  • No incisions needed
  • Can often be done as an outpatient procedure
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Quick recovery time
  • No visible scarring

When Are These Surgeries Used?

Our skilled surgeons use these advanced techniques to diagnose and treat various conditions, including:

  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine Fibroids
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Infertility issues
  • Uterine polyps
